1/3cVery hot (even boiling)
  Water
1/2cRolled oats (not instant)
3/4cButtermilk
1tbButter, margarine or oil
2tbSugar
1tsSalt
1/2tsBaking soda
2tbWheat germ
1 3/4cBread flour
1 1/2tsYeast
1/2cVery hot (even boiling)

METHOD: Put oats in bread pan. Pour very hot or boiling water over the oats and stir. Let sit at least 15 minutes. Put remaining ingredients in bread pan in order suggested by your bread machine manufacturer. Set for white bread; medium crust. Press start.
